I have recharged this several times and have never been able to get it to work in the balance board. I have tried repeatedly to use this in my balance board.
Whatever you do, don't waste your money on this product. Unfortunately, I waited for my wife to recover from knee surgery before I set up the WII and of course now Amazon won't let me return the defective battery pack after 30 days. Might as well put a match to a twenty-dollar bill. I wish I had read the published reviews before including this worthless piece of trash in my original WII Fit purchase. In addition to complaints about not being able to charge the batteries unless the WII is turned on, and the USB cable being too short to reach the WII Fit step-on platform, my brand-new battery pack (even after the recommended 12-hour initial charge) would not hold a charge for more than 3 minutes.
If it isn't Nintendo or an affiliate in that field, please buy with caution. Happy shopping. Thanks to everybody who posted a review of this battery pack. If it is not from the manufacturer of the item, using it may be in violation of the manufacturer's warranty. In my opinion, it's better in the long run. Product packaging may look similar (I've even seen one with "Wii" lettering on it similar to Nintendo's logo), but that doesn't mean it comes from the original manufacturer. At Amazon, the product listing will show the name and then "By manufacturer name".
If I only have to spend a couple dollars more to get a manufacturer supported product, I will. But, I'm very careful of what I buy and who I buy it from.
Think about it this way; wouldn't Nintendo manufacturer a battery pack of their own if the balance board were truly capable of having one. I don't want to make it sound like all third party products are worthless; I own several myself.
I just wanted to give some advice regarding recharging equipment in general. I've read 2 reviews here so far from people who contacted Nintendo directly and were told not to use battery packs with the balance boards, or were told that the battery pack was specifically responsible to the board's malfunction.
There is no guarantee that it will work correctly and the manufacturer will not support the third party product if defective and will not support its own product if damage is caused by third party products.
Somewhere on the package will be the real manufacturers name.
I strongly recommend you not purchase this product. I have to leave it plugged in to use it at all, and this is simply not an option anymore. I bought this on release of Wii Fit, alongside the game and looked forward to the fact that I wouldn't have to buy batteries for it constantly.However this thing doesn't charge unless the Wii is on, and the usb cord is WAY TOO SHORT to leave it plugged in while using. and if you have your Wii higher than knee height good luck even plugging it in.Not only that but it doesn't seem to stop charging on its own, leading to early death of the battery pack, and now it doesn't hold a charge at all.
all in all it is a p.o.s. now it won't even work while plugged in. i hope it doesn't taste like one. looks like i'm gonna have to eat this thing to get my $18 value. it worked for about 30 minutes total after the initial charge.
